Applied for a job I didn’t think I could get — and now, I’m lost for words when people ask me: “How did you do it?”

⏳ From reporting to Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) on my first day with a racing heart and an unsure mind to walking out on my last day with a full heart and the kind of quiet confidence that only growth can give, every single day spent working at MAS has been eye-opening and transformative.

💌 I can still vividly remember the day I received the offer — excited, relieved, surprised… but mostly scared.

🔎 Stepping into the job market even before starting university was daunting, and competing with candidates who are more qualified (and overqualified) definitely didn’t help. Each interview notice that came in felt like a tiny victory, but also a fresh round of self-doubt.

In a blink of an eye, my not-so-short stint at MAS has come to a close. The anxious, wary version of me on day one has grown into someone braver, more confident, and more grounded — though still a little wary, in a good way.

📈Work here was challenging. The learning curve was steep — I had to pick up new skills and knowledge from scratch to manage projects from the AIDA inventory curation to Culture & Conduct training design, and leading publicity strategies then creating the content for SSA's project features in events like AI Partners Day and the BIG Townhall.

But the people? They made all the difference.

🏡“Family” may feel like a red flag in job listings, but my colleagues' reaffirmations and guidance redefined it for me. Being in a place where I felt seen, heard, and appreciated, made me feel like I found myself a big “family” who was the strongest support system for me. My colleagues reaffirmed my worth through every project, with a fair share of compliments, suggestions, and honest feedback.

Funny how life works sometimes. If not for my health concerns prompting a gap year, and my curiosity for paths aside from my dream leading me into a new industry, I might have completely missed out on one of the most transformative chapters of my early career. Every project I have been involved in and every learning opportunities I have been presented with counts to my professional and personal growth.

🌱 Special thanks to my previous supervisor Chong Tee Lim who supported my applications and made this opportunity possible.
